I am an infrequent participant in these discussions.  This is my first attempt at starting a thread. 

Recently one of my sons has been undertaking confirmation lessons (5 all up).  These have consisted of a modified version of Dominic Steele’s Ideas that Changed the World.  I am interested in knowing what other churches are doing in this respect (appreciating confirmation is largely an Anglican tradition).  How many weeks of studies do you have?  What is the content of the studies?

At St James Croydon the conformation class runs for a school term and includes a weekend away. the class goes through a special course based on the Apostles Creed.
My two very different daughters have both done this course. It gives the confirmees a strong grounding in the essentials of christianity.

Sounds good.  Is it a study series that is commercially available?

I attend TBT at St Andrew’s cathedral and have done so for 2 years and only seen one baptism, no confirmations and we have never done holy communion. At my prior Anglican Church they had confirmation class which I always meant to enrol in. My neighbour told me once that she was the only person from her “confirmation class” still attending the church.

They probably do it in the morning, but TBT is the evening service so it has been never done there.

FWIW, they also do it just before Friday lunchtimes at 12:15 PM.

Hi Bronwyn,

If your congregation at The Bible Talks never celebrates the Lord’s Supper , then it seems to me that the leadership of your congregation is simply not listening and obeying when the Bible talks -
for example Luke 22:19, 1 Corinthinas 11:24.

I am not sure why Communion is never celebrated, and only thought about because someone who doesn’t attend the church had asked me how we celebrate Holy Communion, and I had to say we haven’t done it at all. Even at my prior home church once a month they whipped out the grape juice (considering the underage members) and the rice crackers. People where expect to take it seriously and generally there were some who refused considering the teaching of the section.

It is very unusual, and perhaps they choose not to do it because we have a high number of visitors each week
